Kast vs Buffer: scheduling everywhere or selling on LinkedIn

Prices checked on September 23, 2026 at buffer.com/pricing.

Buffer has been around since 2010 and does one thing remarkably well: queuing content and publishing it at the right time, on almost every network. It doesn't claim to do anything else, and that's a strength.

Pricing, checked on September 23, 2026

Buffer has a free plan, then Essentials at $5 per channel per month, or $60 a year billed annually, then Team at $10 per channel per month, or $120 a year. The trial lasts 14 days.

Per-channel billing is what makes Buffer unbeatable for simple use: a founder who only posts on LinkedIn pays $5 a month. It gets expensive once you manage six networks for three clients, since every channel is billed.

Kast is 29 €, 49 € and 149 €, with a seven-day trial.

Two different jobs, not two competitors

Buffer lines up your content over time. You write somewhere else, you paste, you schedule, and it publishes. Its job ends the moment the post goes out.

Kast handles what comes before and after. Before, Plume suggests a first draft from your projects and past posts, then the score on four criteria tells you what's off while you can still change the text. After, you paste the URL of the published post and get the list of people who liked or commented, with their job title and company, ready to export to Lemlist, Instantly or a file.

The price math, done honestly

A founder who posts on LinkedIn and X pays $10 a month at Buffer, two channels at $5. With us, 29 €. The gap is real.

What the 19 € difference buys: voice calibration, the score before publishing and engagement capture. If you use none of the three, Buffer is the best choice on the market and we won't pretend otherwise.

The math flips for an agency. Five clients on two networks make ten channels, or $100 a month on Buffer's Team plan. Kast's Agency plan is 149 € with a workspace and a voice calibration per client, but without any networks beyond LinkedIn and X.

What Buffer does better

Coverage. Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, Facebook, YouTube, Mastodon. If your week spans five platforms, Kast will slow you down.

A reliable queue, with fifteen years of track record and a spotless reputation for scheduled publishing.

The free plan, which is enough for many freelancers.

The comment inbox, useful when you manage a brand page that gets lots of comments.

The three numbers that replace the dashboard

Buffer shows reach, clicks, followers gained. Those are media metrics, designed for a brand.

When you post to sell a service, three numbers are enough. The people who engage and match your target, the conversations opened in the days that follow, and the post that started each one. Without that last one, you'll never know what to repeat the following week.

Three real-world situations

A product brand on Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.

Buffer, no question.

A consultant who posts twice a week on LinkedIn.

Buffer will publish their posts just fine, without ever telling them who read them. That's the use case Kast is built for.

A ghostwriting agency with five LinkedIn clients.

Kast's Agency plan keeps voices separate and exports leads. Buffer will stay cheaper if all you need is scheduling.

Making the call

Choose Buffer if you distribute content that's already written across several networks.

Choose Kast if you post under your own name in B2B and every post has to end up starting a conversation.

The simplest way is still to compare for yourself.
