Kast vs Typefully: the best editor or the best reviewer

Prices checked on September 23, 2026 at typefully.com/pricing.

Typefully started on X, around a simple idea done well: write a thread in a clean, distraction-free editor and schedule it. It has since added LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky and Mastodon, an API, an MCP and integrations with AI assistants.

For writing comfort, it's the benchmark. For what comes after publishing, it stops where Kast begins.

The plans, as of September 23, 2026

Typefully has four tiers. A free plan limited to ten posts a month, one social set and one user. A Creator plan, billed annually only, which adds the writing assistant and X analytics. A Business plan for teams, billed annually per social set, with up to fifty social sets and unlimited users. An Enterprise plan on request.

The exact amounts only show up once their page has loaded and change with the currency, so we'd rather not copy them here: check them at typefully.com/pricing.

Kast is 29 €, 49 € and 149 € a month, with a seven-day trial and a card required at sign-up. No permanent free plan, but six free tools you can use without an account.

An editor will never tell you no

Typefully helps you write. It rephrases, it improves, it suggests. It doesn't tell you that your hook doesn't hold up, that your post has no CTA, or that the text doesn't sound like you.

That's the core difference between the two tools. Kast applies the same grid to every post: hook, structure, CTA, voice. Each criterion comes back with the flaw it found and a rewrite aimed at that exact point. You stay in control, but you publish knowing what the text is worth.

You can test the grid without creating an account: the post analyzer is free.

Engagement automations, and why we won't have them

Typefully offers features that mechanically boost engagement on X: a link automatically added as a comment when a post passes a threshold, scheduled retweets of your own posts, automatic DMs for giveaways.

These features work on X. We won't have an equivalent on LinkedIn, and it's not a roadmap delay. A tool that sends DMs or comments on your behalf puts your account on the line, not ours. We'd rather give you the list of people who engaged and let you write to them yourself.

What comes next

A post published with Typefully produces analytics on X and nothing comparable on LinkedIn. A post published with Kast produces a list: the people who liked or commented, with their job title and company, which you filter and then export to Lemlist, Instantly or a file.

For a creator who lives off their audience, analytics are enough. For a consultant selling a four-figure service, two comments from marketing directors are worth more than ten thousand views.

What Typefully does better

Writing threads on X. The editor, auto-numbering, the preview, how smooth it all feels. If you mostly post threads, there's nothing to discuss.

Coverage. They have Bluesky and Mastodon, we don't.

PDF carousels for LinkedIn, which we don't make.

Integrations. API, MCP, skills for assistants, Zapier, Notion, Slack, Raycast. We have none of that today.

And finally, the free plan. Ten posts a month isn't much, but it's free forever and we have nothing like it.

Three real-world situations

A creator who posts threads on X.

Typefully, no contest. Kast isn't trying to take that ground from them.

A B2B founder who posts on LinkedIn and cross-posts to X.

Both tools publish. Only one tells them what the post is worth before it goes out, and who read it afterward.

A three-person team writing together.

Typefully has thought collaboration through: comments, roles, Slack notifications. Kast's Agency plan opens a workspace per client, which meets a different need.

Switching from one to the other

Paste your drafts into the editor. Your old published posts feed your voice calibration. Posts already scheduled in Typefully go out as usual.

Many people keep Typefully's free plan for X and use Kast for LinkedIn. It's a combination that works, as long as you're fine keeping two calendars.

Frequently asked questions

We offer a seven-day trial and six free tools with no account needed. A permanent free plan means limiting the product, and engagement capture is the most expensive part for us to run.
No, not at Typefully's level. We put the effort into scoring and what happens after publishing.
No. LinkedIn and X, Threads coming soon.
Yes, but writing threads is still a better experience in Typefully.
Not in the short term.
Not today, and no outgoing webhook either. Export goes through Lemlist, Instantly or a CSV file.

Making the call

Choose Typefully if the pleasure of writing matters most to you, if you post threads on X, or if you want a decent free tool.

Choose Kast if you post B2B content on LinkedIn and want a score before publishing and the list of people who engaged.

The simplest way is still to compare for yourself.
